In a world that moves too fast, I didn’t realise how restless I had become until I started noticing how uneasy I felt in my own home. The constant notifications, back-to-back meetings, and the blur between weekdays and weekends had taken over my life.
That’s when I began creating small pauses for myself – simple, intentional moments that helped me slow down.
Strangely, one of those pauses began while I was mindlessly scrolling through Instagram one evening, and I came across a reel featuring a beautifully styled space with soft lighting, minimal decor, and a glowing, scented candle at its centre. Its sleek design immediately caught my eye; it was the Figure It Out Candle from Kimirica, placed in a beautiful setting that showcased their Home Fragrances Collection. I remember saving the reel so that I can come back to it in my free time and explore further. Around the same time, my friend Sneha had also mentioned how lighting a luxury scented candle in her favourite fragrance had become part of her evening ritual. It gives her a sense of calm after a busy workday.
After a few days, I finally came back to that reel.
Out of all the options, Kimirica’s Soy Candles had my heart, with its reeded glass jars, metal coaster, dual-wick design, and a long-lasting, clean burn of up to 45 hours. It made me realise that a good home decor candle isn’t just about fragrance, it’s also about how it adds character to your space. Sometimes, it’s these small details – a candle on a bedside table or a shelf- that make a room feel complete, intentional, and truly lived-in.
I explored different scented candle scents based on mood, and it was surprisingly satisfying. I found myself lingering a little longer on each option – reading about the fragrances, imagining how they would feel in different corners of my home. Some stood out instantly. Like Lady In Silver, which has a delicate floral scent of White Wisteria and is inspired by my favourite Netflix series, Bridgerton. The Gulistan had majestic notes of Rose Absolute and Iris that unfold in a soft, divine harmony, and The Souq carried woody spicy notes of Saffron and Sandalwood, perfect for meditation & mindfulness.
Somewhere along the way, I started choosing candles based on how I wanted to feel at different times of day. And so I chose many. Bella Amalfi became my go-to during the day. There’s something about its serene, soothing notes of Sea Water and Vetiver, adding coastal freshness to my space that just works – whether I’m reading, stretching into a slow yoga session, or even just trying to get through a quick workout at home. It feels so calming & uplifting that it eases my mind into a state of relaxation.
Evenings, though, are different.
That’s when I tend to reach for something a little more personal. Love Story has slowly become a favourite for those moments – especially on nights when my partner and I are just spending time together, watching something romantic, and talking about our day. It has passionate, floral notes of Jasmine & Gardenia, which feel intimate in the right way.
And I think that’s where everything started to connect.
Because once I got used to ending my day on a slower note, I also started noticing how chaotic my workdays felt – especially while working from home. Like most people, I went through phases of feeling distracted, unproductive, and honestly, a little lazy. When your workspace and your personal space are the same, everything blurs into one long, unstructured day.
So I tried carrying that same idea of “small pauses” into my work routine.
Nothing dramatic – just a small corner, a clean desk, and one thing that felt familiar. I started lighting the Figure It Out Candle at the beginning of my workday. It has a fresh, green scent – not overpowering, but enough to signal a shift.
And honestly, it worked.
The space felt more intentional. The fragrance kept me grounded . It helped create a subtle separation between “home” and “work,” even within the same room. The compact size didn’t take up much space, and the lid, which doubles as a coaster – just made it easier to keep things functional without clutter. It blended into the setup so naturally that it didn’t feel like an addition, just a part of the routine.
A friend once walked in while I was working and later messaged me,
“Your space feels so calm… how are you actually getting work done from home?”
I laughed, but I knew exactly what she meant. It wasn’t just the setup – it was the way the space felt.
It’s funny how something as simple as a scented candle can start to shape your days and home in ways you did not imagine – until you do. Where each soy candle brings a slightly different mood, energy, and aesthetic, but all blend into the same idea: making my space feel more like home.
In a world that’s constantly rushing you forward, these small rituals make daily moments feel like yours again.
